The Role

We are seeking experienced and reliable DC Team Members / Forklift Operators to join a busy berry distribution centre in Devonport, TAS. Working within the fresh produce, warehousing and logistics industry, you will support the receiving, cooling, handling, storage and dispatch of fresh berry products. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced warehouse and cold storage environment, where product quality, safety, teamwork and maintaining the cold chain are essential. The role involves operating both stand-up reach/pick-up forklifts and traditional counterbalance forklifts. This is not a forklift-only position, so successful candidates must also be willing to assist with general warehouse and distribution centre duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

You will support the safe and efficient movement of fresh produce through the distribution centre while helping maintain stock accuracy, cold-chain requirements and daily dispatch targets. The role requires confident forklift operation, attention to product quality and flexibility across warehouse duties.

• Safely unload incoming trucks and receive deliveries
• Operate stand-up reach/pick-up forklifts to move pallets and stock throughout the distribution centre
• Operate counterbalance forklifts for truck loading and other warehouse activities
• Prepare pallets for cooling and storage in line with operational procedures
• Maintain the cold chain throughout product handling to protect freshness and quality
• Manage stock within holding rooms and rotate products using FIFO principles
• Prepare and organise pallets for dispatch
• Safely load outgoing trucks
• Assist with general warehouse and distribution centre duties as required
• Follow stock handling procedures and operational instructions accurately
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, manual handling requirements and forklift safety protocols
• Work collaboratively with warehouse team members to achieve daily operational targets

Benefits

• $33.80 per hour
• Approximately 15 weeks per placement
• Approximately 40+ hours per week, generally 8-10 hours per day

Your Skills & Experience

• Current and valid forklift licence
• Minimum 6 months' forklift operating experience
• Previous warehouse, logistics or distribution centre experience
• Experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse environment
• Confident using both stand-up reach/pick-up and counterbalance forklifts is highly regarded
• Good communication and listening skills with the ability to follow instructions
• Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
• Good attention to detail and commitment to product quality
• Willing and able to work in cold storage and refrigerated environments
• Physically fit and comfortable completing manual handling and general warehouse duties
• Available to work 40+ hours per week, including weekends as required
• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work effectively as part of a team
