Australia’s cherry season is one of the most sought-after harvests in horticulture, commencing in New South Wales from mid-November before moving south through Victoria and Tasmania, where the season continues.

With the full season spanning November 2026 through to February 2027, there is real opportunity to secure work across multiple states. Seasons typically run four to six weeks per site, weather dependent.

We recruit cherry pickers across well-established orchard sites in NSW, VIC and TAS. Roles available include:

Who we’re looking for

We're looking for people with a positive attitude who can commit to working the cherry harvest.

Cherry picking is physical, repetitive work done outdoors in summer heat. Days are long and the pace is set by the crop, not the clock. We are looking for people who show up consistently, follow direction, and are genuinely committed to seeing the season through.

If you meet the following criteria, we’d love to hear from you:

Physically fit and comfortable with bending, reaching and ladder use throughout the day
Reliable and punctual, able to commit to consistent shifts for the duration of the season
Own transport to site, as orchards are in rural areas with no public transport access
Comfortable working outdoors in summer conditions
Able to pass all drug and alcohol tests
Dedicated to keeping yourself and your team members safe

Previous experience is a bonus, and so is flexibility.

If you’ve done fruit picking or other horticulture work before, you’ll hit the ground running. Even better if you’re willing and able to travel between states to work across the season from NSW through VIC and into TAS. Strong performers may also be offered further placements with Agri Labour across other harvests once cherry season ends.

All successful applicants are required to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test before starting, with random testing carried out throughout the season.
