GRAIN HARVEST

Australia’s grain industry -
harvest jobs

Australia’s grain industry provides a multitude of opportunities to build an ongoing agriculture career, or to simply be actively involved in a busy, exciting and rewarding harvest on a casual basis.

Grain harvests happen in most states across Australia, including Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. Because these states all have vastly different seasons, the types of crops planted can vary dramatically in each. Winter crops can typically include chickpeas, barley, oats, faba beans, lupins, field peas, canola, wheat, safflower and linseed, and summer crops offer sunflowers, maize, sorghum, mung beans, soybeans and peanuts.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for people with a positive attitude who can commit to completing the grain harvest.

Grain harvest work is seasonal and dependent on both harvest and site conditions, which include weather fluctuations and operational needs. Due to the unpredictable nature of the industry, candidates should be flexible and adaptable

If you meet the following criteria, we’d love to hear from you:

  • Able to pass drug and alcohol tests
  • Strong level of English communication skills
  • Enjoy working in busy environments
  • Forklift licence would be advantageous
  • Committed to the season
  • Physically fit and able to work long shifts
  • Dedicated to keeping yourself and your team-mates safe.

Tickets and experience will set you apart.

Previous grain harvest experience is highly regarded, and a heavy rigid truck licence, front-end loader licence, or Confined Space Certificate will put you ahead of the pack. That said, if you’ve got the attitude and the fitness, talk to one of our consultants about what roles might suit your current skills.

This is hard, physical work

The grain harvest is hot, dusty, and demanding. You’ll be building and maintaining grain bunkers, directing traffic, and operating machinery including hoppers and stackers. You’ll need to be physically fit, free from asthma or dust allergies, and comfortable working long hours in tough conditions. A strong work ethic and the ability to stay calm under pressure are a must.
