Work in a rewarding
harvest

The work for the rice harvest commences in January, when there’s plenty of activity in preparation for the actual harvest, which starts in mid-March. The rice harvesting season then usually goes through until May or June.

Rice harvesting is much like grain harvesting – involving exceptional rates of pay in return for busy work and long days. The main difference is that most rice processing is completed indoors in a state-of-the-art processing plant.

We’re looking for people with a positive attitude who can commit to completing the rice harvest.

The rice industry is busy and can make unique demands of candidates. If you meet the following criteria, we’d love to hear from you:

Physically fit and able to work extended hours and flexible shifts
Strong English communication skills
Enjoy a busy environment
Able to drive a car (essential)
Forklift licence (favourable but not essential)
Free from asthma and dust allergies
Able to commit to the whole season
Dedicated to keeping yourself and your team members safe.

Rice harvest is a great entry point if you're new to seasonal work

Unlike many other harvests, rice processing takes place indoors in a modern processing plant, so you won’t be battling the elements out in the field. Roles like shed and pit operators, grain testers, weighbridge and appraisal staff are well-suited to people who are organised, attentive, and comfortable working in a structured environment. You’ll need a driver’s licence, be free from asthma and dust allergies, and be able to commit to the full season.

Most rice processing takes place in a state-of-the-art facility, which means you’re out of the weather and working in a more controlled environment than most harvests. All PPE is provided by our client, your recruiter is on hand throughout the season, and when the rice harvest wraps up, we’ll work to connect you with your next placement.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be carried out prior to harvest and randomly throughout the season.
