Job description

The Role

We are seeking two experienced Tractor Operators to join a busy orchard operation in Speewa, NSW. Working within the horticulture and orchard industry, you will be responsible for operating tractors to complete slashing, vegetation management and chemical spraying activities. This is a practical outdoor role in an active farm environment, requiring confidence with machinery, attention to safety and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. For suitable candidates, there may be an opportunity to transition into harvest work following the initial assignment.

Key Responsibilities

You will support orchard maintenance and crop management by operating tractors safely and efficiently across a range of spraying and slashing tasks. The role requires strong machinery awareness, safe chemical handling practices and consistent adherence to site procedures.

  • Operate tractors safely and efficiently
  • Conduct slashing and vegetation management activities across the orchard
  • Carry out chemical spraying operations in line with site procedures
  • Follow chemical handling, application and safety requirements
  • Complete daily pre-start and equipment checks
  • Perform basic machinery maintenance as required
  • Identify and report equipment or operational issues to supervisors
  • Maintain tractors and work areas in a clean and safe condition
  • Follow all workplace health and safety requirements
  • Assist with other general orchard duties as required

Benefits

  • $33.55 per hour plus applicable penalty rates
  • 1 month, with the possibility to transition into harvest
  • Approximately 45 hours per week

Your Skills & Experience

  • Previous tractor operating experience is essential
  • Must have ChemCert
  • Experience with slashing and chemical spraying operations is highly regarded
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and following procedures
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
  • Physically fit and able to complete long outdoor shifts
  • Able to complete basic equipment checks and maintenance
  • Reliable, punctual and able to follow supervisor instructions
  • Own reliable transport is essential
  • Able to work independently and effectively within a farm team
