Job description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join an almond orchard operation in Darlington Point, NSW, within the horticulture and agriculture industry. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining farm and harvest machinery to support safe and efficient orchard operations. You'll work in a practical, safety-focused environment, helping minimise equipment downtime through preventative maintenance, effective fault-finding, and well-planned repairs.

Key Responsibilities

You'll support reliable orchard operations by coordinating and completing machinery maintenance while maintaining accurate records and managing equipment requirements.

  • Service, repair, and maintain orchard and harvest machinery
  • Complete preventative maintenance and mechanical fault-finding
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimise equipment downtime
  • Manage spare parts inventory, purchase orders, and maintenance schedules
  • Maintain accurate equipment records and maintenance registers
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability
  • Support welding and fabrication work where required
  • Follow WHS procedures and promote safe maintenance practices

Your Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you'll bring strong mechanical skills, practical problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safe and reliable equipment maintenance.

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Diesel Mechanics, Metal Fabrication, or a similar is desirable
  • Experience maintaining agricultural, heavy vehicle, or industrial machinery
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and preventative maintenance skills
  • Current driver's licence
  • Good computer, organisational, and record-keeping skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with staff, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
