Job description

We are looking for Experienced Piggery Farm Hand to join a piggery operation in Bears Lagoon, Victoria.

This is a varied role where you will work across different areas of the piggery, supporting daily animal care, farm operations, cleaning, maintenance and environmental duties. The role is suited to someone who is comfortable working with animals and is willing to assist wherever required.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will support day-to-day piggery operations, focusing on animal care, maintaining clean and safe farm facilities, assisting with general farm duties and ensuring animals are treated humanely and in accordance with animal welfare requirements.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Feeding pigs and checking water availability
  • Monitoring the health and condition of pigs, sows and piglets
  • Assisting with piglet processing, farrowing and weaning activities
  • Assisting with breeding and artificial insemination activities as require
  • Assisting with weighing, grading and loading pigs
  • Maintaining accurate farm and animal records
  • Monitoring barn, pen and environmental conditions
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across farm areas
  • Removing deceased animals and disposing of them appropriately
  • Monitoring and maintaining manure and effluent systems
  • Assisting with cleaning, disinfecting and preparing rooms and facilities

Your Skills & Experience:

To be considered for the role, it is important you can demonstrate the following:

  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual and outdoor work
  • Comfortable working with pigs and other farm animals
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to work weekends and extended hours when required
  • Good awareness of workplace health and safety practices
  • Ability to work in a farm environment and perform repetitive physical tasks
