Job description

Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated poultry operations located in Millmerran and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill 100 Poultry Attendant positions across their farming sites and grading floors, with work commencing from July 2026 onwards.

You are required to work in poultry environment where dust and the smell of livestock is present. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased birds; all animals must be handled gently and compassionately. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting.

You will be paid at a flat rate of $26.49 per hour, based off the Pastoral Award – Level 2, with a minimum of 38 hours of work, per week. This will be aligned with the Fair Work Commission’s annual reviews, including any increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay. You will be offered between 1-4 years of work with potential to upskill.

Key duties include:

  • Poultry and Grading Floor laboring – involves frequent bending, lifting and standing for long periods.
  • Egg collecting
  • Vaccinating chickens.
  • Poultry relocation (catching and handling chickens, moving chickens in cages on trolleys)
  • Pack, grade and pulp eggs
  • Managing packing line
  • Completing relevant paperwork correctly
  • Cleaning of sheds and grading floor (using a gurney and cleaning, shoveling and manual labour)
  • Following hygiene and safe work procedures
  • Working in hot and cold outdoor environments/ in a grading floor environment of 18 degrees
  • Any other duties as required by the DA Hall Supervisor.

Characteristics and Aptitudes:

To be considered for the roles, it’s important you are committed to maintaining animal welfare standards and meet the following criteria:

  • Comfortable working in a livestock environment
  • Good communication skills and able to follow instructions
  • No asthma or dust allergies
  • Live locally or be happy to relocate to Millmerran
  • Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties
  • Comfortable working in direct contact with poultry in a smelly environment
  • Able to follow directions and work unsupervised whilst showing high levels of initiative
  • A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
