The Role
Our client is seeking motivated Orchard Assistants to join a busy almond orchard in Hillston, NSW. Working within the horticulture industry, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day care and maintenance of the orchard while contributing to successful seasonal production. This is a hands-on outdoor role suited to candidates who enjoy physical work, working as part of a team, and taking pride in maintaining high standards of safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the Orchard Manager and wider team, you'll help maintain healthy orchard operations throughout the season. This role involves a variety of manual and machinery-based tasks that contribute to efficient orchard production.
- Assist with establishing, maintaining and caring for almond trees.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, identifying and reporting faults.
- Prune, train and maintain trees to maximise productivity.
- Safely operate tractors where licensed and authorised.
- Support orchard maintenance including mowing, slashing, spraying and weed control.
- Install, repair and maintain irrigation infrastructure and fencing.
- Monitor tree health and report pests, diseases or nutrient deficiencies.
- Follow all workplace health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Complete general farm maintenance and other duties as directed.

Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous agriculture, horticulture or orchard experience (desirable).
- A current Australian Driver Licence and your own reliable transport.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A strong work ethic with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding outdoor work.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasonal periods.
- High level of English communication skills.
- Be committed to working for the full season.
- Be free from asthma and dust allergies.
- ChemCert or equivalent chemical accreditation (desirable).
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work independently while following instructions.
