Agri Labour Australia was founded on a commitment to fair pay and treatment for labour hire workers. We applaud the labour hire licensing schemes that are currently being rolled out to ensure that operating with integrity is not just a choice, it’s a legal requirement.

Labour hire licensing

Most states and territories are now pursuing a licensing scheme for the labour hire industry to provide businesses and the community with assurance that labour hire workers are being fairly paid and treated. Several of these schemes will commence in 2018, including:

  • Queensland – licensing commences on 18 April 2018 and all labour hire operators must be licensed by 1 July 2018.
  • South Australia – licensing commences on 1 March 2018 and all labour hire operators must be licenced by 1 July 2018.
  • Victoria – the commencement date will not be later than November 2018 and is still to be confirmed.

Agri Labour Australia is working with government and industry associations to prepare for these changes by participating in the RCSA StaffSure Workforce Service Provider pilot program.
